I like my museums quiet, please.

I know it’s Sunday, but I must say my piece. I was going to start this entry with “Will you please STFU?! Seriously! God knows I was thinking it today as I entered the quite impressive Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art. The admission fee is a little pricey so I knew that I was not going to find any riff raff in the building, but damned if I didn’t happen upon a “talker”. You know the ones, usually American (I’m American, by the way. Kisses!) or sometimes Europeans. They are commonly with a friend and not even a second inside the first exhibit they commence to spewing all, anything, or whatever knowledge they have about the art that is in front of them. I just wanted to step next to them and say with a nice nasty glare: “Excuse me, but do you mind keeping your voice down, you’re disturbing my experience. I really don’t need to hear your opinions about the beauty I see before me, doofus”

Alas, ladies and gentlemen I did not confront those people, did not lose my cool. I calmed myself, remembered whose child I was and sped up ahead of “Mickey Rooney and Mr. Ed”, focused on the art, and forgot about them. This museum has such a wonderful selection that I was at peace and in the right frame of mind to enjoy this incredible space and the art housed here. I later retraced my steps and was finally alone to ponder the need for art and beauty in the history of the human race. Every culture, every civilization has the need to reproduce that which is sacred in him or herself according to their history, state of mind, and beliefs. This is art to me.

    I admire you for your composure in the situation. Personally, I prefer dramatic eye rolling to communicate annoyance. It’s quiet, subtle, and doesn’t cause wrinkles.

    Hello! I’m Sun-mi in PIP 200F. ^^

    I saw your pictures.
    I really love your pictures and your point of view.
    Your picture makes me review Seoul city and my surroundings.

    I think that you like museums, so I wanna recommend a museum.
    It’s HoAm museum! (http://hoam.samsungfoundation.org/eng/index.asp)
    I told you about Hoam a few days ago.
    I thought you were interested in Hoam, so I came here. ^^;

    I know Samsung founded big3 museums.
    As you know, one is Leeum. Leeum is recently founded and very modern.
    Another is Hoam. Hoam is traditional, and it has a korean- traditional garden.
    Hoam museum’s building was used by the founder’s villa, so the landscape is
    really good. Especially autumn season! ^^
    The third is Rodinggallery where is near the cityhall. It is just a galley. ^^

    I’m very happy to recommend this, but the writing is still dificult to me..: )
    I wanna say more about…., but my English ability doesn’t let me do so.. ^^;

    Have you nice weekend!
    See you Monday.
