My first interview! Thank you Travelblissful!

October 27, 2008 at 7:30 am (Blogroll, Surprises)

Hello everyone!
I was asked a week or so ago by Erica Johansson, author and creator of Travelblissful.com if I’d like to be interviewed. How lucky am I?! Of course I said yes as I like her writing style and blog. It’s so full of great information that is also inspiring. It doesn’t leave you overwhelmed, I love that. Thank you, Erica for the opportunity to be featured on your wonderful blog. Who knows, I may be blogging in Sweden sooner than I thought.

Here’s the link!

Korean Sunblock

October 21, 2008 at 12:00 am (Blogroll, Observations)

I had the pleasure of picking apples on Carter’s Mountain in Charlottesville, Va. yesterday, I became so thankful for the ground beneath my feet: Virginian soil. For those of you who are not fortunate enough to experience the changing of the seasons as we are here in various states on the east coast, it is truly amazing to see a kaleidoscope of colors wherever your eye chooses to rest. The sun here is free to not only work at illuminating, it is free to go where it wants because it’s not being blocked at every square meter as I feel it is in certain areas of Seoul. I began to think of Korea and was of course very thankful to be back (at this moment, I don’t know for how long) in Virginia. I saw and experienced so much in Korea and I am thankful for each second of it.

These buildings were a last gift to me and my camera during my last stroll in Korea. Korea was and is a eclectic mixture of incredible design, textures and color, where I gained the most from just standing in awe even though there was so much sunblock.

Inspiration is all around. Look at this shoe!

October 13, 2008 at 10:39 am (Blogroll, Observations, Surprises)

When I first started reading Domino magazine (now my favorite mag) I thought that their section dealing with making outfits into room was stretching it a bit.

I now see the light.

I did a photo shoot about a month ago in Korea and had the pleasure of visiting Choi Jung In’s atelier in Insadong. One of her assistants was wearing these sexy shoes. This shoe immediately called to mind the hotel room that I shot in Paris in last week’s post. Seoul, Paris, inspiration and admiration is all around.

Happy Monday!

P.S. While at the Richmond Folk Festival today, I was offered to go to Mali, yes, MALI to work as a photographer on a exciting project!

Hotel Petit du Moulin: a moment of ectasy, pur et dur

October 10, 2008 at 7:35 am (Blogroll, Surprises)

I had a moment of illicit bliss, that’s it, illicit bliss at L’Hotel du Petit Moulin, a place that made me drunk with joy just by stepping into the elevator. You see even the elevator is a feast for the eyes and since I’m intrigued by color and design in intimate settings, well, how I could refuse the offer to “stay a while, mon amour”.
This hotel was designed by the great Christain Lacroix, that’s right, Monsieur Lacroix. Seventeen rooms, seventeen ways to please your lover. I photographed this room with a racing heart because of the tension building in the room as well as the crazy perfume that this hotel or the room was scented with. It was an amber so warm, so sensual that I asked if I could leave with a bottle. The hotel used to be a boulangerie, it’s located in a 17th century building, small and divine, that’s it really.
The shocking pink of the sitting area did not bother me in the least bit, it seemed to lighten the mood a bit, it was like a private joke or a kiss on the cheek.

In this room, I felt utterly alive and made aware of the power of suggestion.

Paris, je t’aime.

How can I ever repay you Monsieur Lacroix?
