This Time Now is Born!
Come one, come all to see my new baby This Time Now.
I am so fascinated by design now, I want to record it, understand it, respect it, but most of all share my journey into design with you and others. Please feel free to come over and see the my baby, she loves people just like her mother.
This is a new chapter in my life but know this, this blog will remain. I’m so blessed to have spent an incredible year in Seoul and guess what, I may be moving back to Asia. I have to grow and become a better photographer, a better person and travel keeps me on my toes and really, it’s what I love to do.
So many things are happening at this very moment. You’re going to be part of some interesting developments in my life both professionally and personally. I’m so excited!
Thank you for staying with me here and now I’ve added a new member to my family.
Stop by and say hello to This Time Now!
Concha Buika!
I dedicate this to my dear brother, Yusef. You’re as strong and as beautiful as the melody that flows from Buika.
I love discovering new voices. Thank you Out and About Africa!
Concha Buika’s voice, heritage and passion combined with the undeniable force and beauty of Flamenco. Born in Africa and raised on the island of Mallorca, Spain. Could it be more beautiful?
I would love to see her live, listen to her and then photograph her.
There’s more about her on NPR
Ciao!
Bardo
As I don’t have an appetite for food this evening, I prefer to critique my photos taken this summer at Bardo instead. Hey, at least I haven’t eaten too much, right?
Bardo is a great little restaurant packing a cozy Asian atmosphere with bombastic treats straight out of an open kitchen! I had the pleasure of photographing and eating (no cash? pay with food!) these heavenly dishes you see before you. I love the way that these high quality dishes are served tapas style. Ordering three to four dishes per person between three friends will make you feel as if you’re taste tasting for a wedding. The choices are imaginative and expertly cooked. There’s quality and creativeness without the attitude. I thank the owner, chef and sou-chef for preparing such wonderful food for my portfolio and for your eyes.

Sunday was the start of a new chapter in my life. I shared it with my family and friends and feel as if I’m traveling to a foreign country. I will learn a new language, a new way of communicating with the world around me and with myself. I haven’t even left Virginia…YET. While being back in the U.S. has had its up and downs, I’m just going to be grateful for what is, what I have and not stress about the rest. It’s pointless really.
As soon as I returned, I was in a mad rush thinking about houses, visiting mortgage lenders, contemplating a future with a man who is so wonderfully content in his suburban life that the very idea of living in a tony neighborhood in the city leaves him pale (and he is Sidney Poitier chocolate, folks!). The list goes on, and now I’m focused.
I love traveling the world. I love being a photographer and I love the idea of having a home. Having a home AND traveling is doable, non? Why can’t I have it all? The answer is that I CAN and WILL have it all. The great love of my life who was made just for me, the successful international career as a photographer and writer, the home in The Fan and abroad and the family and friends that I cherish all around me, this is what I desire and what I will have. Some of it I already have and I’m grateful for it.
Today is a new day and I will embrace it no matter how scary it gets. Not ready to be put out to pasture, not ready for the ‘burbs’ just yet. Thought that I was, but the life that I want to create is begging to be born. I know who the Father of my life is and now it’s time for me to be Mother of my Life.
I now understand the meaning of faith.
Have a great day and a huge surprise is on its way! Mum’s the word for now, but the photo is a hint.
I always meet cool people: South Korean students at Target!
When people, friends, try to include me in their silly arguments or fights, I practice flight!
Where I landed (thank God) was Target! I needed to get household items anyway and just as I was perusing through those immaculate and orderly aisles, I heard someone speak Korean.
There they were, four young and chill Korean students! I said hello to them in Korean and they were delighted and surprised that I spoke their language. I know about five words of Korean but those five words get me pretty far, thank you.
They reminded me of my student years at VCU (where they are currently studying), great years! We shared a culturally cool moment finding out why we both decided to be where we were and are. One of the students, Moon Ju, wrote two messages on this blog and I thought to myself: What a wonderful world.
Meeting people from all around the world, traveling, being a photographer and being grateful, makes my life rich beyond measure.
Here are photos that I found this morning without even trying, of Korean students studying for their Entrance Exams that will enable them to attend the nation’s top universities. They have pep rally’s for their fellow students to boost their morale, parent’s attend temples and other places of worship to pray for their child’s success. Is that serious folks. I’ve never seen students study harder as they do in Korea. Good luck in all your endeavors! FIGHTING!

“President Obama couldn’t take a bad picture if he tried.”
So said my mother and I must admit, she’s right. Behold, the most handsome, intelligent, and passionate and dare I say, coolest leader of the world!
Thank you Boston.com for these images and of course the talented photographers who took them!

We did it! We did it!!!!
Last night my country grew up and reached higher ground.
I have never been more proud to be an American than last night when I saw “President Elect- Barack Obama written across my mother’s television.
The love, the hope, the sweat and tears that have been a part of this man’s journey, that have been a part of African-American history, the history of this nation of ours…We are much closer to really being the United States of America.
I am proud of President Barack Obama. Please know that you and your lovely wife have inspired me to reach out and help others so that we may all succeed and be better human beings by lifting each other up and understanding that we’re all in this together.
We stand united now, the fall is over. A new era has begun.
Blessings to all!
A bridge that leads to somewhere better.
I hope that those who are able to vote WILL, and for those of you who are not eligible to vote in this country, KEEP YOUR MIND ON OBAMA WINNING THIS ELECTION!
My name is Felicia and I approve this message.
