The Grey, The Green

My neighborhood is profoundly different than the one I lived in last year while here in Seoul.
If the “left bank” of the Han River symbolizes art, bohemia, well the “right bank” (where I now live) symbolizes MONEY, MONEY and more money. Banks, pharmaceutical companies, Yahoo, Oracle are the buildings that tower the cafes and restaurants. Am I complaining? Absolutely not, I wanted different and different is what I have. I love lines, intimidating masses of concrete…my cup runneth over.
but can you walk the walk?

How we’ll end things:

We will walk home slowly, all of us one day.
That’s the real questions, kids.
I was on my way back from Samcheong-dong yesterday and happened to notice two paces, two kinds of strides if you will. The gentleman did not really my eye so much as his hat. I love the old school fedoras that men of a certain age where here. They remind me of my Dad and the other really cool African American men who wore hats, and nicely pressed shirts and trousers any day of the week. Always clean, ALWAYS.
Now the way that the young woman in black was walking really made her stand out. I couldn’t help but follow her stride while we were all rushing to get to the quai on time. The best Korean women know how to walk in heels and this chica was NOT PLAYING. Her stride! The way her skirt correctively hugged her knees made her whole movement mesmerizing. Have I been watching too much Madmen? No, I just pay attention to everything and everybody. My intention was to go out and discover new places but what I found was a new way of looking at people and their movement.
We may as well get on all fours and howl at the moon! Part One
Hello!
I believe and trust that I’ve found a wonderful apartment. Well, I should say that Father found a great place for me where I can relax and focus on finishing my book in peace! What’s with the title? I’ll tell you more as soon as I move in next week. It’s a doozy! Let’s just say, I don’t respond well to raised voices. Ahem!
How to give good airport.

I give good airport, plain and simple.
Before boarding a plane or heck, even while planning my next adventure I think of what I’ll wear on the plane, to the airport. Silly? Perhaps, but in my head, it’s really essential. Since the majority of my flights last longer than 6 hours, I have to be comfortable and presentable upon arrival.
Luckily, my flight back to Seoul only lasted 15 hours and not twenty. Five hours makes a difference folks, trust.
It is beyond my comprehension why some people wear just any old thing to the airport. I never quite understand the ones who wear those funky flannel pajama bottoms on the plane. Were they drugged by friends and family on the way to airport as a practical joke?
I feel like sleeping into something more comfortable myself, but I don’t think that they’ll let me through customs in tiny boy shorts and white “wife beater” with high heels (I’m into heels now, bare with) Pajamas are what we wear to bed, not on Asiana Airlines.
I’m no fashionista, but well, I always want to look great to myself, especially when I’m traveling.
Now, Fly Brother has a great blog post about how he gives good airport and for shorter stays I try my best to pack as he does: complete and compact.
Since I’ll be in Seoul another year, well, I packed two suitcases, one carry on bag, my Macbook Pro and my purse. Now to the outfit!
Black leggings by J.Crew: so soft, comfortable and chic.
Black spaghetti tank: Banana Republic, but H&M has cheaper ones
French terry cloth cardigan, J.Crew: soft and warm
Black patent leather ballerina flats: Nine West: so damn comfortable.
Metallic Scarf: the baddest scarf in the game, purchased in Paris, of course! Ha!
Hair: pulled back in a high ponytail, blown out straight. (Ladies, try to get a satin pillowcase cover, it will do your hair wonders and they make them for those tiny pillows you get on the plane. I was given one by my lovely hair stylist in D.C.)
Makeup: barely there, but a little color on the cheeks never hurts.
It’s not about label, products, it’s only about being comfortable, ready for whatever and beautiful to yourself. I mean, you never know what or whom you’ll encounter on or off the plane. Be prepared for the best! That’s my motto!
That’s it! Good airport served to you on a platter.
Now, when it’s time to sleep, I wash my face or sweep a moisturizing face wipe over the visage, pat on some Mario Badescu moisturizer and sleep.
I slept comfortably, I woke up with nice skin, popped my big sunglasses on and I greeted my new home with a smile.
It’s going to be a great year!
What’s your airport style?
It feeeeelsssssooooogooood!
to be back in Seoul! Yes, I’m back ladies and gentleman and believe you me, it’s been a long time coming. So many great things happened for me in this city: becoming a professional photographer, freelancing for a popular magazine and getting my first book deal with one of the top designers of our time! Yes! I’m now back in Seoul, going to finish MY book as well as other projects.
I hope to incorporate video (a lot) this year, that’s connected to a bigger project.
I hope you stick with me this year, so many new things I want to discover and share with you.
I hope that you enjoy the ride! I know that I will.
Bisous!
