“Africa is part of a global conversation”

Washington, D.C. has some of the best art collections around. I remember walking into the National Museum of African Art shortly after they opened their doors. I’m happy to say that the museum continues to educate, inspire and amaze me. Last week’s visit felt very intimate to me, I believe it’s because of the two featured artists: Sandile Zulu (South Africa) and Henrique Oliveira, their exhibition is called Artists in Dialogue 2.. It’s visually stunning and unique. It really made me think of all the art in other places that I have yet to discover, as well in my own backyard.

Also at the museum is Theo Eshetu’s Brave New World video installation. It was surprisingly ludique and serious at the same time.
